What motivated you to really learn Creole?
I desired to deepen my relationships with my Creole speaking friends in Haiti and the children that I work with and love there.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to learn Haitian Creole?
Absolutely do it! You need to really want to though because that motivation is what will bring you through when the going gets tough. Believe me, there is nothing worse than desperately wanting to tell someone something when you know that you can’t.
What’s been the biggest benefit for you personally since learning to communicate in Creole?
Being able to learn so much more about my friends and their lives, their culture, and their beautiful country of Haiti.
