What motivated you to really learn Creole?

Our church partners with a ministry in La Gonave, and I wanted to be able to communicate better when I went there.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to learn Haitian Creole?

Truly, I would say to use this website–I have a long way to go before I’m fluent, but before I discovered this site, the apps and self-guided study I tried were going nowhere.

What’s been the biggest benefit for you personally since learning to communicate in Creole?

Learning language (even a little!) opens so many doors of communication and relationship. When I went to Haiti, others could see that I tried to learn the language, and I was able to connect with them to a greater degree. Practically speaking, it helps so much to be able to ask a question or communicate an idea.
